Band Families

If you have a student in band, you're already part of the Boosters.

Get involved

The raffle only works because families show up — time counts just as much as money.

  • Come to a meeting. The fourth Monday of the month, August through November and January through April. Decisions about spending, fundraising and trips are made there.
  • Volunteer at an event — bake sales at the winter, spring and holiday concerts, plus the variety show and the jazz dinner show.
  • Follow along on Facebook and Parent Square for drawing dates, winners and volunteer needs.

The one thing we're asking

Pick one: sell tickets, volunteer at an event, or come to a meeting. If every family did one of those three, this program would be in excellent shape.

Selling tickets

There is no quota and no minimum — participation is the goal, even one ticket helps, and the more a student sells, the more they personally earn. Parents can sell too: workplaces are one of the biggest sources of sales. Eighth graders can sell, and earn the same incentives as everyone else.

  1. Ask.
Family, neighbors, coworkers, your church, local businesses. Buyers do not have to live in Jerseyville — last year's buyers came from 26 states.
  2. Fill out the entry form completely.
It's the cut-off at the bottom of the ticket. Print clearly — if we can't read it, we can't pay a prize.
  3. Collect $25.
Cash, or a check made payable to JCHS Band Boosters. Please don't accept post-dated checks — if a check doesn't clear, no incentive is earned on that ticket.
  4. Give the buyer their calendar page to keep
so they can follow the drawings. Keep the entry form and the payment to turn in.

Every entry form must include

  • Buyer's full name
  • Street address
  • City, state and ZIP
  • Phone number
  • The student's name
  • The ticket number

Prize checks are mailed to the address on the form. A missing address means we can't pay a winner — and a missing student name means no credit for the sale.

Turning tickets in

  • Turn tickets in at the band room as you sell them — don't wait for the deadline. It keeps cash from sitting in a backpack and makes data entry manageable.
  • Put the entry forms and the payments together in an envelope with the student's name, the number of tickets, and the total cash and check amounts written on the front.
  • Your family will get an email as entries are processed, so you can confirm they were received.

Running out? Have extras?

Ticket counts were assigned based on what each student sold last year. Need more? Just ask — there are plenty available. Have extras you won't sell? Turn them back in. They go straight to a student who will sell them, and it saves the Boosters printing more tickets — a cost that comes right out of what we raise.

What students earn

Students earn a cash incentive on every ticket they sell. Sell more, and the higher rate applies to all of their tickets — not just the ones above the line.

You choose how you get paid

Fill out an Incentive Distribution Agreement and pick one: Band Trip Account credit (money toward jazz and summer trips), a refund to you by Venmo or check, or a donation back to the Boosters.

A new form is required each year. No form returned means trip account credit. The choice can't be changed once made, and trip account funds can't be converted to cash later. Distributions happen in late January.
